Some of the best ecology research ever conducted has been on cabbage or other Brassica crops.  Root (e.g. 1973), Pimentel (e.g. 1961), and many others studied these crops and brought important ecological concepts to light. The influence of species diversity on trophic interactions highlighted by this work has guided my research and interests. So now I will embark on my own research and watch ecology unfold in my own humble cabbage patch.
